Fine Wine Brokers was founded in 1994 with a simple mission: to bring good wine to our neighbors. Twenty years later, we still cater to every taste and budget.

The store was a passion of the late Gary Rohr and his business partner Philip Bernstein. Gary and Philip met through their dogs on Osterman Beach in Edgewater sometime in the 80's. They always talked about starting a business and in 1994 they finally did. Since then, the shop has expanded from a single storefront on Lincoln Avenue to three times it's original size! The business has also added another store, The Artisan Cellars at the Merchandise Mart.

We carry mostly small-medium production wines, spirits, and craft beers. Gary once said "small, medium, large- it doesn't matter. If it doesn't deliver a good value, I'm not going to carry it." We agree. We taste each and every wine, beer, and spirit before we buy it.  Hey, it's a tough job, but someone's got to do it.

Gary was passionate about "demystifying the aura of the wine industry". We carry on that spirit with our weekly free wine tastings. The easiest way to learn about wine is to taste it, so we offer free tastings every Saturday (1:00-4:00)  It's always fun, and we guarantee* that you'll walk away with some new information! More formal tastings and classes are scheduled throughout the year to support various community charities and organizations. If you'd like to participate, the current calendar can be found on the Events page.

As a neighborhood shop, we want all of our neighbors to feel welcome. Since the shop owes it's existence to a couple of gregarious pups, dogs are always welcome and will be offered a treat. If any of your other 4 legged friends would like to come, we'd love to see them! Of course children, strollers, and even teenagers are welcome as long as they're accompanied by an adult.

*If you don't learn something new, we'll refund the price of your admission!
